Frustration at Ware Annual Town Meeting 3 May 2012

At a well attended but subdued Annual Town Meeting at Fletchers Lea on Monday 30 April, both councillors and residents were left puzzled and frustrated by decisions being made by East Herts District Council affecting Ware.

Residents also expressed frustration at continuing failures to progress on longstanding community issues.

Volunteer Days 2012 18 Apr 2012

The Ware Lido will be opening on Wednesday June 6th, just after the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend.

Preparation of the pool has already been started by the Town Council staff, but there is still much to do.

Rock in the Priory 2012: Line up announced 17 Apr 2012
The Showcase for Rock in the Priory 2012 took place over the weekend Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th March 2012.

After much deliberation, the final line-up has been announced by the selection panel.

This weekend, drinkers in Ware enjoyed the 15th Annual Ware Real Ale Festival at the Art Centre in Kibes Lane.

Ware toys are fun and still are, 21 years on.... 1 Apr 2012
Ware Toy Library, which opened 21 years ago, are having an open morning on Monday May 21st and would like to invite anyone that has been involved, from past members and committee members to help celebrate the milestone.

The Toy Library opened in May 1991 with help from the Womans Institute and the Ware Town Council.  Its first meeting took place in Arts Centre in Kibes Lane and in later years, it moved to the Age Concern building in Priory Street.

Ware prepares to become an independent state 1 Apr 2012
It will be announced today that, in light of Herts County Council appearing to take no notice of concerns about waste disposal in and around Ware, Ware Town Council (WTC) are to call for a Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI).

This will mean that Ware will be completely independent from the rest of the UK with its own constitution, police force and army and the right to regulate its borders.

The Great Bed of Ware returns home 27 Mar 2012
The Great Bed of Ware, on loan from the V&A, has made a welcome return to the town where it was made, over 150 years after it left the town.

Dating from around 1590, The Great Bed of Ware is thought to have been created as a tourist attraction for travellers on the pilgrim route from London to Walsingham, and those on their way from the capital to Cambridge University.

Rock in The Priory Showcase Weekend 22 Mar 2012
This weekend, the Ware Town Council, in conjunction with Playsomething, will host the Rock in the Priory Showcase to select the very best artists for a much-coveted place in the line-up for this years Rock in The Priory.

Ware’s ever popular one day music festival, Rock in the Priory, will this year take place on Sunday, 29th July, noon-8pm.

Olympic Torch times announced for Ware visit 19 Mar 2012
The route for the 2012 Olympic Torch has been announced, with Ware seeing the torch on Saturday 7th July, on it's way from Chelmsford to Cambridge.

The torch will be carried by 8000 torchbearers during it's 10 week relay, each carrying it for approximately a mile. Ware torchbearers’ route begins outside Hertford Regional College at just after 10.30am,

Ware Town Council under pressure from residents: County Council must be next! 15 Mar 2012
On the evening of 12 March 2012, over 200 concerned residents crammed into the Priory Hall (with more people sitting and standing in the lobby outside the hall unable to get in) for a special meeting on the Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) Waste Strategy and to demand action from the Ware Town Council.

Update: No extension to waste consultation deadline
HCC have advised that as this is a statutory 6 week consultation, they will NOT be able to receive responses after 5pm on Monday 19 March. They will accept an email response rather than the response form if this is easier.
