Ware Festival AGM Report
The Ware Festival AGM took place at Ware Priory on Monday 25th September with a great turn out from councillors, committee members, local organisations and members of the public.

Also in attendance were representatives from the three charities to benefit from this year’s Festival. The Chrysalis Drug Project was represented by Director Kevin Michael and Keith Cockman, OBE, Chair of the Trustees. Antonia Preston, Chairman and Kay Pitt, Co-Ordinator, attended on behalf of Home Start East Herts and Susan Bannister came along from Herts Aid. Each of the charities received a cheque for £500 and spoke eloquently on the difference the money will make to their work locally. Next came the presentations by the Chairman. The Chairman explained that each year The Geoff Williamson trophy was presented by the Committee to a company, organisation or individual who had supported the aims and work of the Committee. Cllr Salter was delighted to announce that PlaySomething and Martin Saggers had been nominated to receive the award in recognition of all their enthusiasm and hard work over the past two years. Dominic De Rosa and Martin Saggers said they were pleased to receive the Award and would continue to support the Ware Festival. The Chairman then paid tribute to a very special lady who had been a central part of the Festival Committee for many years and was pleased to present the Tucker Trophy to Mrs Maureen Bealby. The presentations brought the AGM to a close and, after a short break it was straight into the Open Meeting. Cllr Mike Salter was voted Chairman for the 2006/2007, with Cllr Phyllis Ballam voted in as Vice-Chair. Some discussion took place on Ware Festival 2007, including possible themes. All will be revealed after the first Meeting of the new committee, which takes place in November. Carnival Day 2007 will be Saturday, July 7th. Anyone interested in joining the Committee or getting involved with the Festival should contact Rosalyn Montgomery at the Town Council on 01920 460316.
