Allergy clinic

Post by Matt40 »

Hi,

I'm trying to find one but the nearest I can see is bishop stortford. Does anyone know of a more local one? Just want to pay a few quid to rule some things in or out and my g.p. is not referring me on.

There is supposed to be an allergy clinic in Sawbridgeworth, but that is not very much closer. Your GP should be able to refer you for basic allergy testing to rule out the most common allergies, ie nuts, pets, grass etc. This is a simple blood test that can be taken at the clinic in Ware.

As Mel said, The Health Food Shop in Hertford certainly used to have someone who did this on their list but I'm not sure they still practise there. However I think they would be your best bet on finding someone who can help you. I did find that my GP was very anti this. He also said that if I wanted it done on NHS then there was at least a couple of years wait as there was only one specialist to cover our and the neighbouring areas - and priority was given to children so the wait was likely to get longer rather than shorter. Best of luck.

There was one in Baldock who was first class but that was awhile ago. She's worth the visit if still there.
