Is the slip road still closed or was that for one/two weekends?

I had to go to Welwyn Garden City this morning. I saw that the A10 southbound was backed up and more or less stationary beyond the A602 junction (this was 8.30), so I went via Bengeo. This was also backed up badly and very, very slow moving. It took me 30 minutes to get from Crouchfields into Bengeo. The weeks of roadworks cannot end soon enough.

Only 3 months to go until it's all over...

I'm fortunate enough not to have had to use the A10 in peak times during the roadworks (yet).

What I can't quite work out is why we're seeing quite such an impact from lane closures on the A10. After all, we've had them before and it's not been as bad as I hear this time round.

We're getting more and more people in the area, more and more cars with no extra investment in infrastructure to cope with it, so the roads are working over capacity, so the slightest problem such as a lane closure leads to massive tailbacks.

Sorry to keep asking, but has anyone actually seen any work being done on the bridges yet? If not there is a massive investment of time and temper by motorists and
*nuffink* going on to justify it....

There were people chipping away at loose concrete on one part of one of the bridges at about 2pm today.

Well you are ahead of me mb1 - I've been through there half a dozen times in the last week and I have not seen a soul doing anything.

Sorry - that's wrong - someone was litter picking nearby.
