Local Markets

So our local town councils in Ware and Hertford are allegedly not prepared to take on the responsibility for our local markets, with only Bishops Stortford agreeing to this. Our town markets have been allowed to decline in recent years largely due to lack of publicity and high rents but there is surely a demand for them. One has only to look at St. Albans and Epping as two examples of flourishing successful markets, with Hoddesdon also managing to support street markets on two days each week. Once again I ask, are our town councils fit for purpose.

You have to wonder why the District Council are trying to offload them.
