Ware - No Place for Hate - Tudor Square, 30 June
Ware - No Place for Hate - Tudor Square, 30 June
I was in a charity shop yesterday when I heard a woman saying she had to vote leave to 'stop all the darkies coming over here' and bringing crime with them. This came after a couple of days of hearing of a wave of racist threats to EU citizens, assaults, graffiti incidents and more. Many people from the EU, or British people who are black or asian or muslim or whatever are feeling scared and vulnerable in Ware at the moment.
So my wife and I decided to organise a solidarity photo op in Tudor Square on Thursday 30 June at 4pm, where people can come together and, regardless of how we voted or what we think the future should bring, say that our community is No Place for Hate.
All are welcome, it won't last longer than it takes to say a few words and take a group photo. I hope some of you can make it. Do share the info with friends. We aren't doing this for or against any party, campaign or other group, but simply to stand with our friends and let them know we're with them.

I think this is a great idea. The racist anti immigrant graffiti that appeared around the town in the last week or so made me feel physically sick.
I hope that I'll be able to make it.

Great idea, would like to be there but timing may be difficult. Will try.

Great idea but I'm afraid the genie (or devil) has already been freed.
Many knew the vote could trigger making those types of views and actions "legitimate" and we can now see that happening.
A horrible dark side of the UK has been allowed to rise on the back of confusion.
The best we can do is show that many still don't agree with their views.
Good luck I hope it goes well. I can't make it as I'll be teaching in London.

I hope to be there - trusting that many others will come, but how is it being advertised?

I have asked my church to e-mail all church members telling them about the rally. It went out this morning.Pat-H wrote:Its here on WOL ! Loads read, few post.Andrew wrote:I hope to be there - trusting that many others will come, but how is it being advertised?

Will be at work alas, but I hope there is a large turnout.
