Amwell End

Post by The Masked Woler »

I see a planning application has gone in to demolish the present building at the river end and replace with 7 shops and 32 flats.

River Lea end? Good if so. Need to make sure any futue design is respectful of the look of the town, not the 1960s type vandalism that parade represents.

Surely No 20 Amwell End would be the old cinema site.

It would be nice if they made use of the river frontage here with a nice eatery/coffee shop.
It would also be nice if someone demolished the old cinema/nightclub and put something useful in there too!

loss of the Bread Bin, Andrews Fish & Chips, & Spar to name a few, and suprise, suprise there is insufficient parking "30 space in total, providing one space for each of the eight commercial units and 22 spaces for the 35 units equivalent to 1 space per two-bedroom unit and just under 0.5 spaces for each of the one bed units."

Indeed it is, which is why it is shown in dark grey - it is not part of this proposal and is shown for illustrative purposes only. The outline of the existing building is shown in green, whilst the [yet to be built, approved] new building is shown in dark grey..
