Hertford RFC v East Grinstead RFC

Post by Andy B »

Early October 2015 saw East Grinstead (EG) take the home honours with a decisive win and Hertford were looking to do the same in their home game but it did not start well. EG took an early lead with an unconverted try with Hertford answering with a penalty then a yellow card for Hertford unset the balance and EG take another unconverted try for a 3 -10 lead as halftime approaches but Hertford get back into the game with an unconverted try of their own but an immediate counter attack from EG brings a converted try, 8 - 17 at halftime.
The second half needed a big effort from Hertford but EG get an early penalty while Hertford get a yellow card with a mass brawl kicking off and a player from each side gaining a red card with twenty minutes to go EG lead 20 - 8. Hertford step up the pressure and a converted try is the result leaving a 5 point gap so game on! Time is not Hertford's side then EG slot over a penalty to end the game Hertford 15 - 23 EG and the double win for the season. This has not moved either team in the league other than separating them by a bigger points margin, the next couple of matches are of similar positions so Hertford need to regroup and find the form they seems to have let slip.

Next week is another tough match with 5th placed Hertford playing 3rd placed Westcombe Park, Hertford hold the home win honours in a game that won by a single point so the away win is not going to come easily.

Kickoff 3pm.
