What a surprise - a gratuitous left wing attack on the Conservatives - yawn.....why bother with the topic under discussion when one can take pot shots at the government.....

BTW having spoken with senior railway management over the weekend it is my understanding that a second track is not viable so not even an option.

I think we all know that a second track is not viable - what is more worrying is that someone in senior railway management has commissioned and presumably paid vast sums to some consultant who clearly has not visited the area or used a little bit of common sense - and then has not asked any questions over the recommendations before they are published. Maybe you could ask you senior railway management contact about this too!

It was the county council who commissioned the report.
