Past Shops in Ware High Street

Post by Moulder »

Have been told that Ware Museum is showing, or intends to show, photos and exhibits of the old shops that used to be in the High Street. Has anyone been to the museum recently? Could you give me an idea of what is on show? Thanks.

just saw this online:

However it says :
"Woolat & Coggan, which traded in Ware more than 100 years before, like almost all others, finishing in the 60s."
Strange, as it was there in the 70's....wasn't it?

I moved to [just outside] Ware in 1997 and Woollatt & Coggin was alive and well then. I used to love browsing in the shop that is now occupied by Ernest Aves.

Thanks for replies with the link. That has taken me to the Ware Museum poster - have printed it off and will send to my parents who intend to visit the exhibition. :D

Woolatt and Coggin traded as a pharmacy until the early 80s. It became a curiosity shop after that.
