Refuse site

Hi,

Getting back to my usual middle aged gripe about the refuse site... I went this morning with two bags of rubble and then waited for half an hour with the usual stop start crawl outside. Upon entering I was told they weren't"t taking rubble and I could try Pindar road. There's two bits to my moan, the first is they can't put a sign up outside saying 'no rubble' etc because the council won't let them but it's ok to have traffic snarling up dangerously! And is it beyond the councils budget to develop an app with live updates on the container statuses? The latter just seems to me to be a no brainer. We're trying to do our bit for the environment but it just results in a wasted hour burning petrol. Bonkers beyond belief, rant over!

Matt

They just need a board outside that they can hang "we don't take today" signs on. Drivers can then see as they approach and skip or queue.

But they aren't allowed as I suggested this to them. The mind boggles!

Who prohibits it? sounds like that person/department needs some feedback.

I'm awaiting a response from the council!

I have just been up there again, waited half hour in the traffic jams caused by the site. And yet again no rubble so for the second time it's come back home with me. Ths guy said I should go to cole green. Is there anywhere else I can get rid of this? I'm starting to empathise with fly tippers, this tip is no longer fit for purpose.

Last week I had to make three journeys up there before I could get in to drop off my carefully sorted recycling and refuse. First time - it was closed at 0900 because - get this - in the summer they only open at 10.

The second time the queue was back almost to Gentleman's Fields ...and I do not have that long to live.

The third time the queue was only 150 yards so I waited. The really clever people went past, turned at the Tonwell roundabout and approached from the other direction, cutting into the queue and blocking passing traffic until they made space.

The whole place is just pathetic.

Harlow and Stortford are considerably better and much more accessible, if you happen to be in that direction.

But, but, it'll be *so* much better once it's been closed for a year, completely rebuilt, and have the new road entrance. :(

So JB is this going to happen?
Way back when I lived in Ware it was said changes were going to be made and that never happened and they have had over seven years to do it.

The council replied to me saying that they couldn't put boards outside because they weren't allowed and also it would confuse the customer..... And they then said they might be allowing a feature where the website is updated for containers being full but they are concerned it will distract the workers from dealing with queries if they have to provide updates. Then they asked me if I was aware of the improvements coming and hoped they answered all my questions satisfactorily. What planet does the council operate on? Perhaps if they used the site then they might be a little bit more agreable?

Separately, are people really so rude to drive down to tonwell roundabout and then come back up to queue jump? That's really bad.
