Ware North pedestian Improvements

Post by Damo5 »

just had a letter from Herts CC about some planned works in and around North Ware, including

Footway widening :
St Catherines Cof E School access (Park Road)
Fanshawe Crescent /Park Road
Gladstone Road / Watton Road
Wadesmill Road (Baldock Street Roundabout)

Plus a bunch of new 'informal crossings and improvements Wadesmill Road

Would this be HCC getting on and spending their ASDA money?

Let's hope so - as if the money doesn't get spent, it goes back to the developers!

Is it the County Council, or the District Council?

While I agree that footpath widening at those locations is not a bad thing, please oh please put double yellow lines on both sides of the road where it is to be done. Both of the Park Road locations are already narrow, and made very difficult by moronic parking.

Bowling Road and part of Vicarage Road have just been done. Some idiot parked on the corner of Bowling Road where there were double yellow lines. Came back to collect their car and discovered they were now parked on yellow lines - now there is a gap between the lines where the car was. Wonder how soon the council will come back to finish the job.

Not super impressed at the way they've done Vicarage/Bowling Road. They've laid new tarmac over old, without planing off the old surface. Cheaper, of course, but means that where the manhole covers are, we now have sunken levels - they've effectively installed potholes!

Also, they stopped just before the Vicarags Road / Jeffries Road junction, and so have ignored a stinker of a pothole that can catch you on that corner. I didn't bother reporting it, as I assumed it would be covered by these works - I was wrong! Reported now...
