The Rotary Club of Hertford Shires is holding its annual Charity Dragon Boat Regatta on the River Lea in Ware this weekend. The event will be based in the grounds of Sacred Heart School in Broadmeads where parking is available.
Running between 10 am and 5pm on the 13th June, the event is an opportunity for local organisations to take part in a fun activity at the same time as supporting the Rotary charities through sponsorship of Dragon Boat teams. Teams comprise ten rowers and a drummer and each will have a number of races as they hopefully progress towards the final.
This is a charity event so teams pay an entry fee and hopefully raise other funds through sponsorship by their friends and colleagues. The charities the Rotary CLub supporting this year include Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice and Save a Child’s Heart.
In addition to the Dragon Boat Racing, they have an arena where local groups can put on a display of their abilities, which hopefully will promote themselves as well as entertaining those attending the event. There will also be other attractions and food and drink will be available throughout the day.
It promises to be great day so why not go along and have some fun whilst supporting the event and Rotary charities.
