An accident involving a car and a moped blocked Wadesmill Road in Ware today (Saturday January 9). At around 11.30am, a black Audi A3 and a silver moped were travelling along Wadesmill Road towards Ware when they were in collision.

Herts police closed the road from the roundabout on the A10 at Wodson Park and on Wadesmill Road by Poles Lane.

The Essex Air Ambulance helicopter landed in the playing fields by Lower Bourne Gardens at noon and departed at 1.00pm to help take the injured to hospital.

The driver of the moped sadly died at the scene.

PC Kevin Sloan, investigating, said: "We are appealing for anybody who witnessed this collision or who saw the two vehicles prior to the incident to contact us on 0845 33 00 222."
