Re: The absolute state of Ware Road.

In relation to the Woodland Environmental site up at the old Chadwell golf course I would like to state the following; copious amounts of clean water are used in the road sweeper which is used regularly out on the road. Lorries, after delivering there loads, have to use a wheel spinner to get loose ...

Re: The Vine...finally!!!

And I heard the prices are astronomical. £9 for a large glass of wine, £7.50 for vodka and coke!

Re: Gilpin Closing

The Premier Inn being built over the road will, I believe, have a Beefeater built along with it as is usual on most Premier Inn sites, as they they are owned and run by Whitbread. That is another reason for the closure I take it.

Saracens Head.

I see that the Saracens Head public house has been closed for a refurb.
I hear that the old "cellar bar", that was closed some 30 odd years ago, is due to be opened up again, possibly for bands/jazz etc.
Can anyone remember why Mc Mullens closed this part of the pub many years ago?

Re: Green parakeet

I think they are classed as pests like pigeons, crows and magpies and can be culled. You only have to ask the local birdwatchers/clubs what they think about them. Most of them will say they are nice, floating in a pot with carrots and potatoes!

Right pests they are too. We certainly don't want them around here. Noisy, dirty, unsociable blighters. :x

Re: Construction Lorries

I think they may have been heading to Chadwell Springs. A lot of the landfill for this site (23,000 lorry loads over 2 years) is at the moment coming from the old Sainsbury site at Buntingford which is being developed at the moment.

Re: Gilpin Closing

With the building of the Premier Inn opposite along with the the accompanying Beefeater, Macs obviously thought better of this. Also they mention the new development of a pub/restaurant/family golf centre at Chadwell Springs I think this has been on the cards for a while.
