I've thought for years that local elections should not be about the colour rosette the candidates wear, but the actual people standing and what their contribution to the town and its organisations have been to date. Usually its the Deputy Mayor gets elected.......But this year its not!

Cllr David Oldridge was elected Mayor, and the outgoing mayor Alexander Curtis was elected Deputy Mayor (which is unusual..)

I'm guessing the row may have something to do with the fact the mayor is a university student at Oxford, and cant possibly attend all the meetings and functions people expect the mayor at.

Could try bending the ear of the Herts County councillor for the area... They have a "Budget" to spend on Highways stuff (although priority seems to be on putting double yellow lines in residential cul de sacs where they are not needed)

Afraid, despite how the land is designated, money talks, and far more ££££ for property development, than rental income of retail units,

Most of the new properties built in Ware are out of the reach of local people, especially the youngsters.
