Re: Old Cinema
What will be interesting is when we all have to have electric cars and live in places with less than one space per dwelling or none at all.

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
This isn't the first time ASDA have tried this, the black tape had to come out last time too. I assume they will try again at intervals to see if they can get away with it.

Re: 101 New Homes for Crane Mead
I see Swains Mill is now a neat pile of rubble. So it's begun. But what happens to the old station car park on the opposite side of the road? Way back, there was talk about re-opening the archway to the station so that people living in Crane Mead could walk to the station without having to cross Vi...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware
How do we make our voices heard against this Ian - wait till the planning application goes in?? This has been such a disputable scheme which seems to have been decided without properly consulting the people of Ware The people of Ware simply don't care - I discussed the plan ages ago with several an...

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
Its less to do with spiralling rents than to do with the Governments directives to Local councils and politically sympathetic local councils desire to follow those directives. Locally some of our Scout groups face similar issues. Previously low rents are being replaced with commercially calculated ...

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
It never made sense to me that an empty property receiving no income seems to be a preferable to a cheaper rent and the property occupied but its not just a Ware problem as here in NZ high rents drive many stores to close. There was a restaurant that closed and the building was empty for months and...

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
EHDC won't do anything, same as when it was pointed out that Sainsbury were breaching their planning by delivering outside the allowed times. EHDC said there was nothing they could do about it - makes planning conditions a bit pointless. ASDA's car park signs originally had less then the agreed time...

Re: 1500 new homes for Ware
These plans have been under discussion for years, I find it depressing that residents take so little interest in what happens around Ware that they have only now woken up.

Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
The predicted doom doesn't seem to have happened, I have only been to ASDA 3 or 4 times and it never seemed that busy. The owner of the shop opposite has retired and it is now a take away. A far greater threat to the High St shops is the spiralling rents which is driving them out to be replaced by m...

Re: Dean's Ablaze
As has been said, none of the flats being built are aimed at our kids (unless they have well paid jobs in the city).
Mine certainly couldn't afford to live round here, one has gone and the other is likely to follow.
But then I couldn't afford to live near my parents.
