Re: Wine Lodge

and a friendly doorman keeping the riff-raff out!!
Now you've ruined it for me.

I very rarely drink in pubs which need bouncers. They end up being full of "well dressed" riff-raff. :(

Re: New Manager at Waterside Inn

I am still not clear what the serving hours of this new pub are. Can anyone clarify? I see no discrepancy between stopping serving at 10:30, and closing the pub at 11:00. Is that the case Monday to Thursday? I also have no problem with pubs shutting at whatever time they please. However this should ...

Re: Garden Sheds

I would be interested in the wood to use as kindling.

Happy to help demolish the shed and take it away, but I can't really do the electrics (safely), or put up a new one very well.

I am also happy to jsut collect the wood if that's easier, whenever would be convenient for you.

Re: window cleaner - or not!

Mel, The tall friendly chap cleans our windows once a month or so. He took over the round a year or so ago from a chap called Kevin. The thing with window cleaning is that you ask for windows to be cleaned regularly, and they come back at intervals. Maybe this wasn't made clear to your neighbour. If...

Re: Feb 23rd, 8.35pm, Fireworks

I agree with the courtesy argument for 9:00pm. The problem, I guess, arises when community (and common courtesy) gets lost, when people don't know or talk to their neighbours. Now that it's got to the point where common courtesy is rare, and legislation is an inevitable substitute, you need an absol...

Re: Feb 23rd, 8.35pm, Fireworks

All perfectly legal:

https://www.gov.uk/fireworks-the-law

You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am. The exceptions are:

Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

New forum post frequency

I have just had a thought. I post less frequently on the new forum than I did on the old forum, and I have notice other people post less frequently too. I think I have identified the reason, certainly for me personally. On the old forum, I used to remain logged in, so it was a quick 30 second task t...
