Re: New Trains and Additional Service at Ware

Just read the report, interestingly it notes that as part of the planned upgrades to the line, the lavatory at Ware station will be re-furbished and open. That's a laugh! £60,000 was spent installing these toilets and within three months of opening they were shut down due to "vandalism". However, t...

Re: Prezzo in Ware??

I am a bit surprised that Prezzo think there is enough business for two branches so close together. The one in Hertford has been a success but does that warrant another one so close? Of the fashionable "Italian" chains - Pizza Express, ASK Italian, Zizzi and Prezzo - Prezzo is my least favourite! I ...

Re: Returning to Ware

Watton Stores is now Ware Food Centre since Arun Patel retired and the shop was taken over by a Turkish man. However, he is now in the process of splitting it into two. The Food Centre is now much smaller and next door is to be a fish and chip shop, also selling burgers, kebabs, etc., due to open in...

Re: Returning to Ware

The Roebuck hotel has been demolished to make way for yet another care home. The John Gilpin is also being demolished to make way for housing. Opposite the John Gilpin is the new Premier Inn and Beefeater restaurant. Most of the old college buildings have gone and been replaced with new ones. Houses...

Re: Police & Crime Commissioner Election 2016

I think the whole thing is a farce! The police is a necessary emergency service that is not (or should not) be restricted or directed by politics! The figureheads of each force are just like the CEO of a company - responsible and accountable for running the force in the best way possible. Yes they a...

Good for him. I hope it goes well. Whatever you think of our local MP, he does get involved in local issues.

The cost of a daily or weekly travel is capped at the cost of a Travelcard, which is more expensive than a return to Liverpool Street.

So the capping is no good to me because I don't use the tube.

Re: Oyster IS coming

Just to make it more complicated (sorry)... you can only put a season ticket - weekly, monthly or annual - on your Oyster if you are using the tube. For us that means Travelcard. If you are just using the train to Liverpool Street you cannot put a season ticket on Oyster. This means that when I am i...

Yes - a top hat with LEDS would be good - i'll look out for you. Glad you're getting into the spirit of things. Seems ideal given the tacky merch peddled by the street traders Given that street traders are licensed by the District Council and beyond the control of the organizing committee, all we c...

Roofing repairs

Hi

Can anybody recommend a good roofer who is prepared to replace some tiles but will not try to persuade me that the whole roof needs doing at a cost of 20 grand?
