Rememberance Service

Does anybody know what time the service is at the War Memorial tomorrow.
I know it is usually in the afternoon.

I'm not in the know, but easily used search to find out last year's details - I'd be very surprised if anything's changed.

Can confirm that timings are the same as last year:

1350 ATC Band arrives at Kibes Lane
1355 Parade to fall-in facing North (towards the Waggers Club) Standards, flags and banners will be marched in.
1410 Inspection by Town Mayor before parade moves off
1420 Parade arrives at St Mary’s Church
1430 Church Service commences
1515 Standards and wreath bearers muster at the War Memorial
1530 Parade musters in Church Street.
1535 Parade moves off past saluting base in Rankin Sq.
1545 Parade dismisses in Kibes Lane

Will be there with 2nd Ware Scouts.

I believe not, the road is only closed (officially) for the afternoon Remembrance service, which is when the main wreath laying takes place.

The police can only manage one road closure at a time. So Hertford gets them for the morning and Ware for the afternoon.
That's why the Ware remmberance service is in the afternoon and not the traditional 11am morning slot (you need to go to Hertford, or like I do a smaller local service, to pay your respects at the appropriate 11am time)

As it wasnt the proper date 11th November, the time is irrelevant!

I assume on Wednesday 11th at 11am there will be a gathering the War Memorial , as in past years ??

I agree with Whereaami, 11 am November 11th is the poignant date and when we should remember most especially those that bravely fought so that we that came after may have a better chance in the world.

It is a shame that even this, the most sobering of occasions, has become so hyped and commercialised. . Surely those that gave their lives would not appreciate the poppy competition that appears to be rife these days. Remembering those that fell should be about respect and not petty squabbling about town rivalry.

My experience of Scouting has always seen the service held on the nearest Sunday.
Not sure how many Leaders could get the morning off work for a mid week service and how many of the schools would fine the parents for an unauthorised absence should they take the morning off school.
I have had Scouts unable to attend on a Sunday due to Football or Rugby team pressures (attend the team game or be dropped)

As it is the service sees a massive attendance of leaders and children on the Sunday.
Isn't it more important to be remembering and encouraging the younger generations to remember than limiting it to the few who can make the exact declared moment of rememberance?
