Yes, curiously the planners seem to think the extension to the shop would be "visually dominant on the street scene". Seems a very odd reason to refuse permission bearing in mind the "visually dominant" structure on the opposite side of the street!!!!!

I tried to contact Asda and failed via their website (I got stuck in an FAQ minefield) so I took to Twitter to ask about the supposed layby that was offered up in the consultation and a lady called Steph replied 'I will look into this further for you and get back in touch once we have some information'.

Thanks for this. Surely it would have been logical to do whilst they changed the road layout.

Do they? This application is still to be decided https://publicaccess.eastherts.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=NL5R6QGLFN200

a previous one seems to have been refused

The application was granted on 8/5/15.

Interesting that the opening hours of the chip shop are restricted to 10am-10pm. What are the opening hours of the new Asda?

Does getting all the drunks in after the pubs close count as an advantage?

Why assume that only drunk people use the place at that time? It isn't true,
