ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
Thanks Steve it all makes sense now.
Re: ASDA at last but don't forget the local shops.
Further to my post 23Jan
Has anyone noticed the current signs dotted round the car park saying in bold letters across the top "FOR USE ONLY WHILE SHOPPING IN STORE"
My reading of that is don't walk off from the car park to support a High Street shop or indeed go anywhere else as it could cost you a £70 fine.
It has been reported to EHDC
Well it's taken a while to reach the Enforcement officer at EHDC after my email was 'lost' twice and I still haven't had an official reply. However, today I notice there is black tape on all the ASDA car park signs. The tape covers the offending words in capitals above. Seems like a result despite the pessimism that EHDC would do nothing.
When ASDA was granted planning permission, much was made about the benefit to the town with people parking to shop in ASDA and having a linked walk to the High St. It is mentioned in the submitted planning documents.

Nice result!
Well done to any who brought this to EHDC's attention. Reminds me of when Tesco took over the big car park and promised to allow 3 hours parking, and then snuck it down to 2, before being made to go back to 3.
It just goes to show that it's always worth reporting problems rather than simply moaning about them.

This isn't the first time ASDA have tried this, the black tape had to come out last time too. I assume they will try again at intervals to see if they can get away with it.
