Having read the detail I can see that the Highways people have recommended that the HGV deliveries are routed down into town and up the A1170 past Wodson Park. I can see why they recommend this but I wonder if this will be followed? Surely an HGV turning right to go towards the town will cause a lot of traffic hold ups?

Highways have always said there would be an increase in congestion and were mindful to refuse planning permission but this had to be tempered with the benefits the council felt that Asda would bring to Ware.

Ian, the whole turning right thing is going to be a nightmare. It will block up ASDA, block the Watton Road and cause great difficulties, especially in the morning and early evening. Why plans for lights or a roundabout were dropped is beyond me.

The traffic volumes and increase in trucks always concerned me when living in Westmill Road especially where Watton Road and Westmill Road meet at the cemetery which narrows and is significantly narrower that the rest of the road. A truck weight restriction was requested and a councillor who's name eludes me said it was not requires and have always been puzzled as to how she came to that conclusion.

Since the Council ignored the Highways dept and did whatever crossed their minds that night, it wouldn't have made any difference Andy B. Don;t forget this is a council where one of the planning committee when told by staff that his proposed course of action was illegal said I'm elected I can do what I want. Only to cost us all money when his decision was overturned on appeal.
