Ware Lido 80th year

Post by New Boy »

Hello Everyone,

Pool painting has started at the Lido, but we could do with some more help. I have a few volunteers helping out tomorrow (Friday 14th March), and anyone else would be welcome to join us. Painting is the main job, but there are also gardening and general tidying to do if you prefer. We will be at the Lido from about 10am until early afternoon.

Hope to see some of you, but we will also be looking for volunteers closer to opening day on May 24th to help prepare the changing rooms.

If you would like to meet up with some of us regular Lido users in a more relaxed manner, several of us are meeting for coffee on Wednesday 26th March, at 10am at the Isabel Hospice Coffee Morning that is held in Place House in Blue Coat Yard off East St Ware (behind The Vine). We will be making plans for the Lido pre-season cleaning and publicity, so any offers of help or new ideas would be welcome.

If you cannot make either of these but would like to help the Lido in anyway, please let me know what you may be able to do, and what days are best for you.

Best Wishes,

Friends of Ware Lido

Hello Everyone,
Just to let you know that there will be cleaning parties at the Lido on Friday and Saturday (16 and 17th) this week. We are relying on a few dedicated people, and it would be really nice if others could give us a hand, even if you can only do an hour or two. Starting time is 10am both days, hope to see you there.

We also need volunteers to help us distribute posters and leaflets, particularly in shops etc in Ware High Street. If you can help with this please let me know.

Season Tickets can now be bought from the Priory at 10% discount if bought before May 23rd

Best wishes

They're eye catching, even if the sky is a bit too blue! Good art deco feel to them.

Ware Priory Lido opens on 24th May ready for half-term week.

To mark the 2014 Season opening day, on Sat 24th May there will be a water polo demo starting at 11.45am (free entry for spectators).

The pool will then be cleared at 12.45pm for the Adult swim session 1-2pm. Since 1953 the lifeguards have recorded the name of the first dipper at the start of the season on the Ware Lido 'First Dip' Spoon. Could it be you in the 80th year?

The Lido will then be open for all from 2 - 5.45pm!

Had my 1st 'swim' of the year last night at our outdoor swimming pool (which still has no boards) on a beautiful evening; a brilliant way to chill out after work in a hot week - thanks to all for the Monday + Thursday late openings this year.
