Glad I went tonight, some good questions, some good answers, some honesty. Shame for those who didn't have time to ask a question, but I'm glad it didn't go on until the early hours.

Still mystified by the missing candidate's choice not to attend, mind.

In the end, it did give some genuine insight into the candidates, and has probably helped me decide who to vote for.

Sounds like a job well done!

PS, it would be great if all candidates chose to attend next time...

Agree, an interesting evening. Thank you to all involved in organising the event and to everyone who turned up.

Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. In different ways all the candidates impressed - including the UKIP one (much to my surprise). I think I have decided who to vote for - and it won't be for our gloriously absent MP!

A big thank you to all who turned up including Conservative supporters and members despite their candidate being absent.

Kevein Phillips Bong, your question was an interesting mix of thoughts, not least the suggestion that Labour has anything to do with socialism! Liam Byrne's joke about the money has to be one of the most ill conceived ideas for a generation, but the way the Tories have spun the crash to shift the blame from the bankers and stockbrokers who caused it and wrecked the economy to the Labour party is quite astonishing. That people would believe this Tory lie given that it was their friends and financial backers doing the wrecking is even more incredible. On income tax cuts, according to the right wing Institute for Fiscal Studies while people earning £15k or under are better off on income tax, when all tax and benefit changes are taken into account then they are about £400 a year worse off. And that doesn;t take into account extra travel costs imposed by the government, above inflation prescription charges etc, so these things are not as simple as PAYE.

Thanks to the Society of Cogers for organising the debate last night, which was entertaining if not especially enlightening for me. My highlights were the UKIP guy claiming all 800 members of the House of Lords is committing fraud why claiming to have alzheimers to avoid prosecution; and Mr Standley's attempt at a Tory walkout to protest bias against the Tories, despite his candidate having failed to show up - at least I think that's why he stomped off as he did while the Tories were shouting they should be allowed a right of response to things said about them.

What surprised me was when the Green Party candidate said that Mark Prisk was offered an alternative date, but still refused to come. It also appears that Prisk, as I had been told, was not going to a private Tory event. Apparently he was just 'going to Bishops Stortford'.

This smacks to me a bit of what Cameron was doing over the televised debates. He wanted the Greens involved. They were. He did not want a direct debate with Ed Miliband. There was not one. Cameron had no option but to attend the television debate, but Prisk - secure in the fact that he has a comfortable majority - need not. I am sure if he was in a marginal constituency then Prisk would be at every hustings and knocking on every door.

Good to see some young people there which included first time voters and those who can't in this election. Some of them asked questions and all were very thoughtful. (Lots of them had their hands up to ask questions and some were picked by the chair.) It's good to see young people engaged and concerned about the world we all have to live in which is a lot more than the majority of people I see or hear in pubs.

I'm quite surprised by the lack of canvassing or perhaps I'm not in town at the right time. No one has yet knocked on the door, just had leaflets put through. We were in Birmingham last weekend and didn't see anyone at all while we were walking through the centre.

A great event. If Tories don't rock up they can't try and disrupt it.

Absolutely right about the young people there IGS, I think the first four questions came from school students. A good sign for the future with engaged kids like that.
