Hertford RFC v East Grinstead RFC result

Post by Andy B »

Its a home game this week so being postponed should not arise.
Hertford welcomes East Grinstead to Hoe Lane for round two of the season.
Round one was not good for Hertford loosing 34 - 12 back in October and EG have been consistent and currently sit third.
Another test on Hertford's season improvement.

3 pm kick off.

Not the best of starts for Hertford with EG going 7 up in the first two minutes then to rub salt into the wound another converted try on seven minutes and successful penalty on thirteen, 0 - 17. Two minutes later EG have a man red carded reducing them to fourteen men for the next sixty five minutes. While both sides have a man "binned" Hertford score and convert, thirty two minutes 7 - 17. Four minutes later Hertford are in again and the fight back is looking good, 14 - 17. Twelve minutes after the restart EG get a try and two penalties then two tries one converted make the score on seventy three minutes 26 - 28 and there seems to an opportunity for a home win till with five minutes to go EG score leaving a final score of 26 - 35. Hertford remain in eighth place but the pack are closing behind them and the postponed game is no guarantee of points, this game has raised more questions than it answered. IT did show that Hertford have great fighting spirit but leaves us wondering what difference the result would have been if EG have played with a full team?
