Hertford RFC v Colchester RFC

Post by Andy B »

A good win by Colchester last week meant that Hertford were expecting a tough game but they got off to a good start with a penalty and a converted try to lead 10 - 0 but Colchester came back with a converted try of their own, it seems the Colchester scum were having a few problems and Hertford gained a penalty try just before half time. 17 - 7.
The second half started with Hertford applying the pressure again with Colchester still struggling with their scrum, penalty to Hertford seven metres out who go for the scrum but are held up over the line. Colchester's scrum is costing them dear with a scrum under the posts and another penalty try so the score rises to 24 - 7. Colchester awarded a penalty on the halfway line and score a wind assisted three points 24 - 10. The tries kept coming with a bonus try to Hertford 31 - 10, unconverted try to Colchester 31 - 15, unconverted try to Hertford 36 - 15, Colchester take the last score of the game with a converted try so the final score 36 - 22 to Hertford.
Hertford move up to sixth in the league two points adrift of Shelford who have the same wins/losses as Hertford.

Next week is a big one! Hertford have an unbeaten home record and four losses to two wins away and its a big ask to try and equal the away stats up a bit as they visit top of the table London Irish Wild Geese who are unbeaten to date this season with just the singe drawn game amongst all the wins but that does not mean they are unbeatable and if Hertford play away as they do at home anything is possible.

Kickoff 3 pm.
