Tonbridge Juddians RFC v Hertford RFC

Post by Andy B »

Playing teams at the top end of the table is always tough and the memory of the tight home win will still be vivid and would inspire the away game or so one likes to think.
Tonbridge got the scoring underway with an uncoverted try and a penalty before Ben Creasey converts a try to close the gap to 8 - 7. Tunbridge then score a penalty to go 11 - 7 then a Kelly try and McPherson-Smith conversion Hertford go in at halftime 14 - 11 leaders. Just after the restart Tonbridge scored a penalty to bring the scores even and that's how it remained for a long period with Herford parked in the Tunbridge half for most of it then six minutes from the end Tunbridge received a penalty to take the lead 17 - 14 and with Tunbridge collapsing a scum on their five metre line without penalty the opportunity for a win faded. Final score 17 - 14 to Tonbridge who remain a clear second in the league while Hertford in fifth place share equal points with sixth placed Guernsey.

With just five games of the season remaining next up are Guernsey in two weeks time who beat Hertford in the away game so Hertford will want to rectify that and it'll also decide which side will be above the other in the league.

Kickoff 3pm
