High Street Pavement

Postby Riverside » Wed 25 Jun 2014 4:18 pm

There was an issue last week where the pavement near Natwest had to be excavated.
Work was completed and holes duly covered. But then.....
Instead of replacing slabs taken up, they just cemented over and scribed
lines in the concrete to make them look like slabs (some are not even straight).
What is happening to pride in workmanship? Are works completed not given
a check by some sort of Works Supervisor? What has happened to the slabs?
In someone's back garden??

Given that:-

a) We as tax payers forked out a fortune for this paving and

b) It's right in the conservation area

I would hope the council will be taking action (but I wont be holding my breath)

Would it be, perhaps, that they expect to be taking up the pavements again soon to put the services in for the proposed development behind the old post office?

I think you credit them with far too much forward thinking. They repaint the lines on roads which are to be dug on a few weeks later.

Possibly the pavement is to be removed to make parking bays to make up for the almost total lack of provision in the proposals.

Have you seen the latest? "They" have now cemented the end of the drainage run from the drain pipe to the road.
