Kingfisher Spot

Post by Matt40 »

Hi,

I'm not sure if they are a rarity or as common as anything but I spotted a Kingfisher today flying around the Priory island. A lovely colourful watch against a backdrop of winter greys. I tried to take a photo but the little fella was a bit flighty. He's in the middle of the photo for what it's worth!

I spotted a kingfisher by the New River, almost opposite the college on 6th February, 2015. The bird - the same one perhaps - was very hard to pin down. I took a nice photograph of the railings by the gate next to the level crossing, before seeing the little blighter had flown on to a wall by the river. Sorry about the quality, but I took the photograph at the extreme of the zoom range of my camera without a tripod. I have also cropped the photograph as it was too large for an attachment.

I've seen them near the lock on the Lea occasionally and by the tennis courts in Hertford and just beyond Ware Park Woods too.

Maybe not so rare then! Still, they are a beautiful sight if anyone wants to keep an eye out for them.
