Our Shabby Tesco
Our Shabby Tesco
I know Tesco are in a bit of trouble at the moment, but with Asda and Sainsbury not far from opening, and Waitrose on the way, I'm surprised nothing has been done about the state of Tesco in the town. the layout is horrible, the fridges are always going wrong, the ranges of goods on offer is poor even considering the size of the store. the whole place needs a makeover. I had assumed they'd buck up before the competition arrived, but obviously not.
Re: Our Shabby Tesco
I think it's a fair indication of how deep the rot goes at Tesco.
I doubt Tesco see Waitrose as direct competition. They will have already lost that custom to Hertford. The Hertford store is 2 miles from Ware and the Great Amwell store is 1.5 miles from Ware. Asda is by far the greatest threat.

only thing I like about WARE TESCO is the idea you can pay at both ends! its quirky I can never do a whole weeks shop in there... Brookfield Tesco is my favourite!
its got everything and more! AND.... I never see anyone I know in Brookfield... so I can shop till I drop!

Maybe they have decided it isn't worth it.

You do wonder don't you... Maybe they are waiting to see how trade goes once Asda opens, and then decide whether or not to do anything with it - whether it is to change the ranges offered, refurb or whatever. However, it's not so long ago that they did jigger thnings around, but I think at the end of the day the columns limit the layout there, and it's never going to be great.
Having said that, we do most of our shops in there - I count it as a failure if I DON'T see someone I know in there - that's one of the things I like about it.

I only get a few bits in there but I like the fact that it's sort of on the High street but not visible from the High street.

It's a bit marmite really. We like to complain about it's bad points but it's handy and great to bump into people there. I dread to think of the alternative if it goes e.g. More flats....

and having to go up Watton Road for a supermarket. I like Tesco in Ware because it's handy, I can walk there if I want. It might no have everything I need but that's fine for me I go without or look elsewhere. Walking up Watton Road is not an option for a small amount of shopping
