Will we see the Last Vulcan Bomber on Sunday?

Post by QMouse »

When you expand Sundays map it looks like it will fly over Hertford, but its only a rough map so watch the sky between 14:00 - 14:08 on Sunday and you could see the last airworthy Vulcan pass by on its way to Duxford.

When I lived in Lincolnshire as a kid I used to see these beasts all the time. I took my kids to a Duxford show last year (the youngest likes planes, the eldest doesn't) and I said that it would be memorable as it will shake the ground and turn on a wingtip. It came in low with two Folland Gnats at it's wingtips and there was a palpable sense of anticipation in the crowd...It didn't disappoint and my eldest did confess that it was impressive.

In short, do try and see this magnificent plane if it does come near.

This is it's last flying season. Due to loss of sponsorship it will not fly again after that.

I believe it's also to do with air frame issues and a dwindling number of experts to help with technical advice.

Lovely view from Westmill Farm just now (even spotted it in the distance on it's way down to Hendon beforehand. Looked like Tonwell would have been right underneath the flightpath. A happy 20 minute excursion for me!

Got a text from at the Wild Food and Chilli Show in Essex from my wife (in Ware) saying that she'd seen it and at that moment it flew over the show. Happy boy.

It is at Shuttleworth next Sunday (5th July) and it is only up the road near Biggleswade.

We all have tickets as I adore the Vulcan.
