Sat 11th Jan Ware v Maldon/Tiptree

Post by kevin phillips bong »

With hopefully the wet weather behind us Ware take on Maldon/Tiptree on saturday @ 3pm @ Wodson in a Ryman league North match. With it being the first home game of 2014 and with a new manager/board in place it will be a chance to see how they perform... they will score but fingers crossed the new manager can defend!

Today's match unfortunatley has been OFF following a pitch inspection.

I assume from the lack of posts that there has been very little football played since the start of January.
Will it help Ware to lift off the bottom? I have seen the changes from the Mercury coverage. Does the team look better now?

Billy, we did get a game in a week ago (and won it) with all those in attendance feeling that the team looks a lot better now. The problem is that we have 22 league games to complete before the end of the season plus at least one league cup game (scheduled for tonight against premier division Harrow Borough but with a pitch inspection scheduled for 4.30).

We will now be playing 3 games a week (and currently four games in one week) for the rest of the season. Injured players will therefore potentially miss more games whilst recovering but that will be the same for most teams in the league. It will be interesting to see what impact injuries have on our chances of survival but, that aside, everyone is feeling optimistic.

As bad as it is for Ware, the situation at Hertford is so dire they made Sky Sports News this morning. They are still under 18 inches of water and have no idea when they will next play a home game!

And this evening's game is now postponed. It will now have to be found a Thursday evening (or have a league game switched to a Thursday) as we have no Tuesdays left between now and the end of the season.

Next scheduled home game is next Tuesday versus Wroxham, our most distant opponents. Hope the weather holds for them otherwise they too will be looking at a Thursday game.

Well there you go. As I suspected Ware vs Harrow is now next Tuesday at 7.45 and Ware vs Wroxham will have to be found another date.

Blueboy, pleased to see a positive outlook to the end of the season. 22 games is enough to climb out of relegation.

Although injuries and pitches and games on Thursdays are a problem, they will be a problem for all teams, I'm sure there are few that have escaped massed cancellations.
