They have discovered a sinkhole of sorts under the road surface a couple of feet to the south of the level crossing - on the left hand side of the road, looking from Amwell End. There is already a six inch hole in the road surface but Network Rail engineers are looking at its extent.
Could get interesting. Its at least as deep as a broomhandle apparently...

Filled in and fixed overnight - quite impressive really - although the road and kerb is still 'dropped' around the hole.

I wonder if they have 'fixed' the effect or the cause, hopefully both.
